By-law Enforcement

By-laws are documented rules that govern municipalities. They address activities such as animal control, loitering, noise, outdoor fires, sewage, signage, vendor licensing and waste disposal such as illegal dumping among others.

Report by-law enfractions to the Municipal By-law Enforcement Officer who will record the incident and initiate an investigation if an offence has been committed.

Prosecution

Perpetrators can be prosecuted. A Summary Offence Ticket (SOT) may be issued when a Municipal by-law is violated. Each by-law has a minimum fine and imprisonment consequence associated with it. Think twice before breaking a by-law!
